Having just cooled off from our debut Boogie Box Presents Series, we head back to Annex on July 4 to pick up where we left off.

On warm-up is Ricardo De Meneses,a British-born DJ now residing in Abu Dhabi. With an affinity for vinyl and an ear for quality music, Ricardo is a rare track selector who fits in comfortably wherever expressive and creative music reigns. Originally from London, he has touched down in places as varied as Johanessburg, Sofia, Bierut, and Kiev, showcasing his approach to Minimal, House, and much more. Lately he has been making a name for himself at home in the UAE. His live-stream record-store showcase Shoobz, delineates the not-so-neat genre confines around which his music dances.

Headlining is usual suspect, tequila toaster, and Boogie Box label head honcho Hassan Alwan. He is known for spinning everything from bass-infused UK Soundsystem, dusty dub selections, off-kilter Techno, and at times spaced-out resonances. Adrift somewhere between London, Berlin, and the middle-east, his sets combine many influences and incongruities, defining Boogie Box as something simultaneousy foreign and at home in Abu Dhabi.
